Mini Splits A Popular A/C Solution In Eagle County

Hey there, Eagle County residents! Summer is just around the corner, and with it comes the scorching temperatures we all know and (sometimes) love. But what if you don’t have central air conditioning, or your current system just isn’t cutting it? Well, there’s good news: mini split systems are the perfect solution for keeping your home cool and comfortable all year round.

What are mini split systems?

As the video explained, mini split systems are ductless air conditioning systems that are ideal for homes without ductwork, like many here in Eagle County. They consist of two main parts: an outdoor unit (or compressor) and one or more indoor units (or Comfort zones). The system works by moving heat, the indoor units job is to circulate hot air through its cooling coil which has cool refrigerant running trough it, as the hot air passes through the cooling coil the refrigerant picks up this heat turning hot air into cool air, after this the now hot refrigerant gets sent outdoor to the condenser, out here the condenser uses it built in condenser fan to dissipate the heat outdoors cooling the refrigerant again, and the cycle starts again when the condenser sends cool refrigerant back to the indoor units.

Why are mini splits perfect for Eagle County homes?

Remember that video about hydronic heating systems being the most common in our area? Well, guess what? Adding central air conditioning to those systems is impossible. That’s where mini splits come in as lifesavers. They’re:

  • Ductless: No need to rip up walls or ceilings to install ductwork, saving you time, money, and mess.
  • Modular: You can install one indoor unit in your living room today and add more to other rooms later as your needs or budget allows.
  • Efficient: Mini splits are known for their energy efficiency, thanks to their targeted cooling and inverter technology. That means you’ll save money on your energy bills while staying cool.
  • Powerful: Don’t let their compact size fool you. Mini splits can effectively cool even the largest rooms in your Eagle County home.

Types of mini split systems:

In the video, I mentioned a few different types of indoor units for mini split systems. Here are a few options to consider:

  • Wall-mounted units: These are the most common type and are perfect for living rooms, bedrooms, and other areas where you spend a lot of time.
  • Ceiling cassettes: These units are ideal for rooms with high ceilings or where you want to avoid having a unit on the wall.
  • Floor-mounted units: These are a good option for rooms where you don’t have a lot of
wall space or want to keep the cool air low to the ground.

Choosing the right mini split system for your Eagle County home:

With so many options available, choosing the right mini split system can seem daunting. But don’t worry, we’re here to help! Here are a few factors to consider:

  • The size of your home: The size of your home will determine the cooling capacity you need.
  • The number of rooms you want to cool: Decide which rooms you use the most and
    prioritize cooling those first.
  • Your budget: Mini split systems come in a range of prices, so be sure to factor in your
    budget when making your decision.
  • Your energy efficiency goals: If you’re looking to save money on your energy bills, choose a system with a high SEER rating.
